The College Board National Recognition Programs seek to identify students of exceptional academic potential who represent historically under-recognized groups including minorities and students from rural and underserved areas. These students must score in the top percentage of test takers on the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test, and meet additional selection criteria through a significant application process.
